Collections Care Liaison Officer
Kaye Tetlow is based at Lancashire Conservation Studios in Preston. Kaye’s post has been created to deliver the regional vision for Collections for the Future, namely to improve the relevance, impact, profile and quality of museum services and collections.
Kaye's role as Collections Liaison Officer is to provide support and advice on collections care to museums in the North West. Kaye trained in conservation and worked as a curator at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, where she delivered an outreach programme of small touring exhibitions around Derbyshire. This background provides Kaye with a balanced view of the priorities and core functions of museums, and an understanding of some issues that constrain small museums.
Kaye aims to raise regional standards of care by boosting staff confidence and skills through:
• providing greater access to information and expert knowledge in and around the region
• carrying out site visits to give practical advice and assess specific and regional needs
• supporting the Collections Management and Emergency Planning section of the Museum Accreditation standard.
• developing a series of practical workshops
