CSV Full Time Volunteering - Opportunities for dynamic young people aged 16-35
Could you be an Agent4Change?
This month the CSV Full Time Volunteering newsletter focuses on CSV Agents4Change, an exciting project funded by v and Tesco to inspire and empower young people aged 16-25 to make a real difference in their local community.

We need volunteers now!
Could you or someone you know:
  • motivate and inspire others to get involved in life changing events?
  • manage and run events involving young people?
  • make your community a better place?
  • Here's your chance to make things happen!
We're looking for incredible people aged 16-25 with the passion, energy and determination to address issues and be involved in organising and running events involving young people across England.

Volunteers are based at BBC radio stations in 21 locations across England. They are involved in liasing with local community organisations and the media to promote volunteering among young people and create exciting volunteering opportunities that tackle real community issues and are led and inspired by young people.

Opportunties are full time and available for between 4-12 months.

    Meet a CSV Agents4Change volunteer!

Helen Clare, 23, from Birmingham has spent the last 8 months as a CSV Agents4Change volunteer based in Birmingham at BBC Radio WM.

Here she talks about her experience:

One of the most memorable projects that I worked with was a Somali Women’s Support Centre in Small Heath, Birmingham. We wanted to give the centre a much needed makeover whilst also organising a family fun day where the whole community could come together and get involved. Activities on the day included face painting, a bouncy castle, henna, food and drinks and Splat-the-Rat. All of these activities were run by Agents4Change volunteers.

"I found it incredibly rewarding, although challenging at times too!"

All of the volunteers were so grateful for the opportunity to have volunteered on this project, as were the community to us for organising this event. Everyone worked incredibly hard and it was absolutely brilliant to see people working together for such a worthwhile project. It was amazing to see barriers and prejudices being broken down through a volunteering project such as this.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as a volunteer for CSV. I found it incredibly rewarding, although challenging at times too! But I feel that I have gained so many valuable skills; project management, presentation skills and knowledge of the media, to name a few. I know that I wouldn't be in the same position that I am in now without the time that I spent with CSV. "

CSV Agents4Change volunteers can be based from home or can live away from home as help with accommodation is provided if needed. Also volunteers receive a subsistence allowance and support is provided throughout their placement.

If you are aged between 16-25 and would like to take up the challenge of becoming a full time Agent4change volunteer

We also need volunteers for other exciting projects!

If Agents4Change is not for you but you would still like to be a CSV Full Time Volunteer we have many other rewarding opportunities for 16-35 year olds to volunteer across the UK. These include supporting adults with physical disabilities and learning disabilities to lead independent lifestyles, providing respite care to older people or befriending young people at risk of exclusion from school. Click here for more details.

"I wanted to be an Agents4Change volunteer because I am passionate about bringing the community closer together. I believe young people can bring energy and enthusiasm and make positive changes to the area where they live."

Sarah Collins, 22,
CSV Agents4Change volunteer, Luton

"Being an Agents4Change volunteer has given me excellent first hand experience in project management, PR and marketing, which hopefully will impress any future employer."

Amy Cook, 19,
CSV Agents4Change volunteer, Reading

"We need to improve the places we live in, and if more people my age get involved, all the better. I am a young guy and I surprised myself when I saw what I achieved"
