MINISTERS PRAISE LUMOS' INCLUSIVE EDUCATION WORK IN MOLDOVA

Thousands of children diagnosed with physical and intellectual disabilities in Moldova have been stigmatised and isolated in large residential institutions. These institutions do not offer the protection, care, educational support and attention that the children need.

STAFF PROFILE: GALINA BULAT - LUMOS MOLDOVA

We meet with Galina Bulat, our Inclusive Education Project Manager in the Moldova office, who tells us how children will no longer be “invisible” with the essential work she and the team in Moldova have embarked on. Former Deputy Minister of Education, and mother of two daughters aged 28 and 25, Galina finds job satisfaction in every successful story of a child being included in mainstream school.

ENABLE GROUP COLLABORATES WITH LUMOS

For the past year Lumos has been working with The Enable Group, a Derbyshire-based charity, on a range of events and initiatives with our country programmes, particularly Lumos’ teams in Bulgaria and the Czech Republic.

NIGHTRIDER CHARITY EVENT

Charity bike rides and marathons are a familiar sight, but on June 11th 2011 five of our hardy supporters volunteered to undertake a challenge with a twist to raise money for Lumos. 1000 volunteers entered the event, which started at midnight and took in some of London's most famous landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament, the O2 Arena, and Arsenal's Emirates football stadium.
