Synergy News
Here at The Synergy Group we work closely with the BPA and the IPP and we are pleased to announce that our very own Karen Naylor is standing in the Elections this year, and would like the support of fellow colleagues and members within the market. The BPA Council oversees the strategic and policy direction of the Association and through lobbying of government steers the direction of national policy with reference to parking and traffic management issues. Karen Naylor, Interim Parking Services Manager for Waltham Forest, won the British Parking Award, ‘Parking Person of the Year 2009’ for her innovative contribution to the parking industry as the first Residents’ Parking Advocate. Karen has developed her knowledge of the industry with experience in outer London (Waltham Forest), inner London (Islington) and outside of London (Manchester). This has given her a good insight into the importance of local area context, demographics and the value of local influences as well as the requirement to meet the conflicting demands of the user and the local environment. Karen says …… “I aspire the balance of interests of the parking industry, the needs of customers and legislative requirements whilst providing best practice and raising standards to meet the varying demands on a parking and traffic service. I have developed my knowledge of the industry with experience in outer London (Waltham Forest), inner London (Islington) and outside of London (Manchester). This has given a good insight into the importance of local area context, demographics and the value of local influences as well as the requirement to meet the conflicting demands of the user and the local environment. I developed and implemented the first Residents’ Parking Advocate role to champion on behalf of customers which ensured the delivery of an improved value for money service. For this innovative contribution to the parking industry I won the British Parking Award, ‘Parking Person of the Year 2009’. If I am successful I would bring this innovative approach to the BPA.” The deadline for voting in the election is 5pm on Wednesday 21st July.
